ReplyDeleteI want to major in business at college. I took economy class at my old high school in China when I was a sophomore. My high school here in the US will open an economy class to students next year, so I'll definitely take that.
Is there anything else you think I can do to show colleges I'm really interested in business and economy besides taking related courses?

ReplyDeleteSorry for getting back to you so late - I've been busy with exams and such.
If you want to show colleges your interest in business, you can do more than just try to relevant courses. Show that you have valid work experience or a relevant internship. Also, leadership positions in clubs/activities helps a lot.
If you've had a business or leadership-related experience, then make sure you expand upon it in one of your essays. Try to show how an experience you've had fostered your interest in business.
Hello. I am going into 10th grade and thus far everything has been really wekl in school. I've come out with all A's on my report cards and all of my finals had A grades. I've completed 2 years /5 of French and I plan to finish and this year I am taking Pre-AP French and Pre-AP English. I'm also in all honors classes.
ReplyDeleteBasically, I really want to go to Cornell, and I have the drive and dedication. My biggest fear is that I will never get in. So I was wondering: what are 'science labs'? In high school, is that when you have your science class and do lab work? (such as bio and chem?) Please post back! I would really appreciate it.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're off to a good start. Getting into a desired college does not only depend on grades, but also activities that you're involved in. Be sure to participate in extracurricular activities and try to strive for leadership roles or impact-ful work (like substantial volunteering).
As far as I know, "science labs" are exactly what you said: science classes that include "labs." Lab classes include bio, chem, physics, and possibly environmental science. Umm is there a specific place where you saw the term "science labs" used that you're confused about? Let me know if you have any other questions.

ReplyDeleteI'm a junior right now and my GPA's over 4.0 and I'm taking all the hard ap and honors courses as possible. My SAT scores's a little low -I haven't taken the SAT yet, but on practice test, I usually get around 2000 =(
But my problem is, my ap scores aren't that high. Last year, as a sophomore, I took two ap tests and I got a 3 and a 4 which I think are pretty bad compared to other students who apply for competitive colleges.
I'm involved in many extra curricular activities in school and outside of school, so I'm not very worried about that and my goal for SAT is to get about 2200 to 2300.
So, do you think my ap scores will affect my chance of getting into cornell or other ivy league colleges? And can you give me any advice on how to do well on SAT reading?
